My Tribute Page to Ray Harryhausen

This section of the site is, as the title states, a tribute to the late, great Ray Harryhausen. That's his picture at the right.

I imagine that there are dozens or more sites of this type on the Web but I'm not sure if any feature model kits that honor the artist that had and still thrill millions and inspired hundreds to become film makers and special effects technicians of all stripes. If you look at the so-called 'Extras' sections on your science fiction or fantasy DVDs, Ray's name, without fail, is always mentioned as the inspiration of those filmmakers.

I know when I saw "The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad" at the tender age of eight, I was forever a fan even though I hadn't a clue how the animations were accomplished. When I asked my father how they did it, his simple response was "Mirrors, I guess". Needless to say, the techniques that Ray used BY HIMSELF were far more complicated than mirrors as I found out though years of reading books on the subject and carefull watching his films. I also made a clumsy attempt at making an animated film which I hope to post on these pages but, rest assured, it is NOTHING like the work of the giant I tried to emulate.

Anyway, the pages and images in this section are my way of saying "Thank you" to a man that has entertained and inspired me for decades. I hope what you see brings back memories of your own or inspires you to seek out this great artist's work. Just click on the titles in the black field above to get to a specific film. Due to the limitations of this web building program, I was forced to abbreviate some of the movie titles so I hinted as best as I could to describe what lay within. In any case, they are displayed chronologically with more kits being added on a regular basis. Enjoy! 3/2/21
