I Married A Monster From Outer Space
This may be one of the dopiest films titles ever and my heart goes out to the guy that had to change the theater marqee when this film came to town.
Anyway, this is one of my first resin build ups. I got the kit on eBay for about fifty bucks and though it was inexpensive, it wasn't that bad a kit to build. As I recall, the casting was pretty clean and went togther well. If I have a complaint about this kit, it would be that the alien hands are WAY out of scale. I wasn't at an advanced skill level when I built this kit to make them smaller but if I were to make this kit again, I'd break out my trusty Dremel motor tool and grind those digits down a tad.
The film of which the kit is based has an 'invasion of the body snatchers' type of plot where a bride's fiance''s body is inhabited by an alien creature, its motive being to repopulate its dying race with human females. Genetic improbablities of this even being possible set aside, the suspenseful story develops as more men (and just men) are being taken over throughout the town. An interesting scene has the main doppelganger reveal his true visage as the light from lightening washes across his face. The alien design (once you get to really see it) during the film's finale is pretty original (in my view) and somewhat resembles the Japanese Smog Monster Hedrora (see photo below).
Anyway, the kit has the alien holding a passed out female, a classic monster pose if there ever was one. The base has a dissolved alien (that's what happens when they die) cast into it along with an alien ray gun. I ended up mixing a glop of various colors to depict the fallen alien goo and went with a dark brown for the creature itself. Though the film was in black & white, the lobby poster above has a color image.
Speechless, And I am really speechless.
Incredible work. I am glad we could provide you with a grail
Great job down to the last detail!
Thank you, Addis, I estimate it took me around 100 hours to complete.
Terrific work...must've taken quite a while for you to complete...very good detail!!
